New FLRT upgrade includes Linux customers

By admin • January 4th, 2010

On September 3, 2009, IBM released the latest version of the Fix Level Recommendation Tool. FLRT now supports Linux-based customers by providing fix recommendations for IBM licensed program products running on Power Systems. Both general use and High Performance Computing customers can now obtain fix level recommendations for products across all three operating systems: AIX, IBM i and Linux.

This release of FLRT includes:

* Support for IBM products running on Linux.
* Upgrade recommendations that provide instant re-run processing. Should FLRT recommend an upgrade for one or more current fix levels, you can simply click the re-run link on the report page, and then FLRT will run the entire report again, with the recommended upgrade(s) plugged in to your previous configuration.
* Device firmware support for most machine types and models.
* Fix-level selections enabled at the service pack level for HMC and Virtual I/O Server, allowing you to receive recommendations at a more refined level.
* Improved usability with pop-up helps that tell you what command to run to determine the current product fix level. In addition, the user interface has been enhanced to provide easier-to-use selection of product and fix levels.
* Dynamic, bimodal language translation support in ten of the most popular languages.
